About

I have always loved books–reading them and talking about them. I love to write, and I love to help authors transform their work into something they are proud of and excited to share with the world. I provide professional, compassionate editorial help to indie authors. When we work on your project together, think of me as a combination of an English teacher and a best friend.

In addition to being a professional freelance editor, I am also a mother, a musician, and a lover of all things that have to do with the ocean. I have a special obsession with storybook pirates and pirate history!

When I am not editing or writing, I am moonlighting as a jazz singer, gardening, baking, and spending time with my family on Florida’s beautiful Atlantic coast!

What types of things do I edit? I edit both fiction and non-fiction. I have edited women’s fiction, suspense thrillers, urban fiction, fantasy, Christian romance, spicy romance, LGBTQ, inspirational, memoir, YA, and children’s lit. I am especially proud to work with Black authors in both standard English and AAVE (African American Vernacular English).

What are my professional qualifications?

  • Bachelor of Arts in English, Stanford University
  • Masters of Arts in English, Arizona State University
  • Certificate: Professional Sequence in Editing, UC Berkeley (complete summer 2023)
  • Experience teaching at the secondary school and college levels
  • Designed and taught writing and literature classes for homeschoolers in my community
